Until somebody invents the ideal one, follow these tips to choose the right roller. "The longer the nap, the more paint the roller will hold, but it will also create more texture." says Dixon. "A 1/2-inch nap lamb's-wool roller holds plenty of paint without too much texture," says Dixon. "Less expensive rollers can work," says Span. "Just wash them first in dishwashing liquid to remove any stray fibers." Most of the pros we spoke with prefer 9-inch rollers over 18-inch models -- they are lighter, cheaper, and easier to use. Despite these shortcomings, Maceyunas swears by the wider roller. "The roller can do a whole wall in a few up and down strokes instead of in several dozen W and M strokes," he says.

I've seen this article sent out 4 times now. It's out dated in terms of today's "Scams." Paint stores haven't charged more money for deeper paint colors in over 15 years. Also Water downed paint? Seriously? That would never happen in the real world. And Wall repair? what painter would ever not assume wall repair as included? This article is a waste of time and should be taken down or edited to reflect actual scams of todays times.

They painted our home exterior about 12 years ago and did the interior about 9 years ago as part of a major remodel. As it was time to re-paint the exterior again, we used James Lee again, and were very glad we did. In walking around to find 'punch list' corrections after they were done, there was pretty much nothing to find - they did a great job.

This is so much different than Kristen’s other work. She’s one of my favorite authors. I had read House Of The Rising Sun before this one and was told that that trilogy would be enjoyed even more, hard to get any better than it was, if I read this Comarre series first. They tie in together but don’t have to be read in order. This first book has a lot of telling but I feel like that is necessary because this is a big world so it needs that world building. I loved all the main characters. I really liked the uniqueness of Crysabell (spelling?) needing to be bled or have a vampire feed from her or she would be like blood drunk. It’s her purpose to feed her vampire.
Wood around windows and entire bay window and trim had rotted wood that needed repair and repainting within a short period of time due to end of season. They provided a fair and detailed quote and began work quickly. They gave an honest assessment of what was needed and what was not - i.e. - the garage was in good shape and didn't need repainting. I am not there so they provided updates regularly by phone. They went beyond the scope of the contract and fixed some problems that would have required a window person. After completion they sent photos and the work us excellent. All done within a week. Will be using them again next season for additional painting.

This person will care for the needs of the rest of the workforce, fetch drinks, make sandwiches, make runs to the store for last-minute needs, cook (or arrange) lunch and dinner, make phone calls, get directions, wash brushes, etc. Don't underestimate the need for this key person! Fabio is one of our best painters and has received multiple glowing reviews here on Homestars from all of our customers that he has painted for. The amount of work you required could not have been completed in the time allotted for. Now I admit he was only able to complete 1 coat of paint to your bathroom ceiling as the unit above you was leaking. At this point Fabio stopped painting the ceiling and advised our office immediately so you would be aware of the new leak and continued onto other areas of your condo. Fabio then de-greased your entire kitchen; baseboards, walls & ceiling with a special chemical before he could proceed to painting the kitchen. This alone took up a huge portion of his time. I have sent many emails providing different options on how we can correct the issue for you as we want you to be happy with our work and our customer service. I can schedule Fabio to return on Friday November 2, 2018 to complete the remainder of the work.
FIRST: Unless you can stay in business painting 1 bedroom at a time for $500-$1000, which you can't, then you will be taking on several thousand dollar contracts that require thousands in Labor and Materials to fulfill the order. Multiply that by 3-4 jobs at one time or in our case 15-20 jobs at a time, YOU NEED TO TAKE DEPOSITS!!! It is horrible business not to take deposits. There are many jobs where its not possible to get a deposit and that is built into or pricing accordingly. If we are not getting a deposit, there is a finance charge built in, contractors are not banks. If you don't have a good feeling about a deposit, your hiring the WRONG CONTRACTOR. Hire people you know or well established businesses.

Spills and spatters happen, regardless of how careful you are. It’s a lot easier to pre- pare for them than to wipe them out of your carpeting or off your wood floor later. All it takes is canvas drop cloths in your work area (a 4-ft. x 15-ft. cloth costs $15). The thick canvas stays in place, so you don’t need to tape it, and you can use it to cover any surface. Plastic drop cloths are slippery to walk on or set a ladder on and don’t stay in place. Even worse, paint spills on plastic stay wet, and they can end up on your shoes and get tracked through the house. Canvas is slippery on hard ﬂoors, so rosin paper ($10 for 400 sq. ft. at home centers) is better over vinyl, tile and hard- wood. Tape the sheets together and to the ﬂoor to provide a nonslip surface.
My wife and I just painted the interior of our house with about 6-8 gallons, of $30+ per gallon (meaning the good stuff, non-diluted) with absolutely fantastic results. However we just paid an average of $5 per gallon. Reason...all big box stores have paint, set aside, that has been mixed but not picked up by the customer. They need to sell it quick and if you're not in a hurry (you know well in advance that a room or two need painting and it's not like the roof leaking and needs an immediate fix) you can go to each store when you need other supplies or food, like Walmart (when convenient, driving 20 miles to each is not worth it) and over the course of a month or two, pick out some very nice colors of quality paint. We found perfect colors...not saying they were our first choice but when we opened the can, very nice and some even better than our original picks. Cost to paint the entire house was about $100, with all materials included, period. We had it on the market for a few months to sell, didn't sell, painted the rooms, got 2 offers the day after we finished, took the best one and never looked back.

D weekend in August. Robert sent me a complete bid, signed upfront. It arrived timely manner. He was doing most of the walls and the kitchen cabinets. He arrived on time, prepared and walked/talked me through the process. He was really good a outlining the days it would take and the steps involved so I was able to push back the flooring and avoid overlap. We added a double-door to the project after the fact and Robert was able to accomodate me. He gave me paint recommnendations. After the flooring was completed there was an issue with baseboards. The company had torn them off and not replaced correctly. Robert notified me and went out of his way to send a detailed description of what happened. This was just purely from an ethical, moral "right thing to do" to help me out standpoint!! I would not hesitate to reccomend Robert as a contractor and painter. Not only a good guy but does a great job and extremeley professional. If he lived in CA he would be my "go-to" painter for every project. If you need a painter look no further.

If I'm dissatisfied and want to give an "F" rating (question/workers...I SHOULD NOT be intimidated into passing up an opportunity to explain my experience! There is NO WAY my contractor got an Aplus rating from over five hundred people....so someone was lying....yet I can't report that without the contractor knowing it? REALLY?

To get basic measurements, measure the length and width of each wall you want to paint in inches. Multiply the length and height together, and divide by 144. This will give you the square footage for each wall. A gallon of paint typically covers around 400 square feet. In some cases, you may need a primer 2 first, then a single coat of paint, meaning that you may need one gallon of primer and one gallon of paint to cover 400 square feet. However, if the wall requires multiple coats, this will increase the total amount of square footage required, and therefore the amount of paint.
I called several other painters to get estimates as well, always checking that the reviews were not fake (Like all 5 star reviews grouped within a month of each other, as if they had all their friends give them great reviews). I also checked with the California Contractors board to verify current Licences and if in fact the painters were working under their own license or working under some random contractor's license that wasn't even a painters license, (Some had no license at all!), I checked to see if the companies I interviewed were listed with the BBB, and if they were, if they had any unresolved claims against them.
Plan the schedule. Get a grip on the time it will take to bring the project to fruition. Plan for time to move furniture, wall prep, cut in, the painting itself, eating and breaks, and don't forget cleanup and bringing furniture back in. As you plan, err on the side of prudence. Unforeseen events will slow you down, so allow time for these. Remember, this is a multi-day project. Don't try to fit too much into a day. If you move faster than planned, great!
