So I was telling Harrison about a ridiculous thing that I witnessed today while going on my lunch break. Coming out of the train station in Chinatown, there were two Chinese high school girls in front of me. A woman in her 50s was walking slowly in front of them so one of the girls suddenly snapped, rather rudely, “Excuse me!” Y’know, with that I’m-better-than-you attitude. She walks ahead of the woman with her similarly ditzy friend. The woman (in some dialect, actually not Fujinese now that I think about it since I did understand what she was saying) scolded them, kind of, retorting, “I can walk slowly if I want.” So then that bitchy girl had the nerve to tell her to go back to China! Which caused some white guys to laugh at them. What the heck, man? First of all, I am apalled and disappointed to see such disrespect towards elders! She was just walking a tad slow, for cripes sake! Are you rushing to go save someone’s life? Sheesh. What if you’re in your 50s, nearing your 60s one day, just taking a stroll, and some bimbo high schooler says this to you? And second of all, you’re Chinese yourself, you idiot! Why not tell your parents to go back to China while you’re at it?! This is just pathetic. The youth these days are out of control! *suddenly feels like a senior citizen* I don’t know, I guess I’m just rather conservative and I have my values; respecting your elders is one of them. Not making yourself look like a douche in public is another. Because you never know when some bored stranger on the streets is going to blog about your stupidity.
