Occupied and yearning for an escape

[ music ] Why Try to Change Me Now // Fiona Apple

To all my visitors who drop by looking for updates regarding resources or graphics, I am so, so sorry I’ve been slacking off for months. The truth is, ever since studying abroad, life has been pretty busy and hectic, just the way I like it (well, to a certain degree). It’s not exactly because I’m completely uninspired; I’m still designing flyers and stickers and possibly some business cards. I guess, to be frank, I’m concentrating on areas that will have an effect on my near future, so I’m designing for clients, school organizations, and for my internship. Hope you understand it’s not because I don’t care about you guys – I can only do so much!

So this is the latest flyer I’ve finished designing for a fraternity at my college. They are totally awesome, friendly people. Show some support and show up at the party! It was also the first time I purchased a stock online and man those things are expensive when purchasing on-the-go! Anyway, I actually quite like the colors here and it looks awesome at 300 dpi. It was also the first APD flyer I designed that I saw around campus in color. Sometimes I wonder where they’re passing the flyers out.

Gotta go to sleep soon. Eek. >.< Still have to get lunch with Rachel and Jessalin tomorrow and then go watch The Proposal. Luckily, the AMC theatre is close to our college and we get discounted tickets (thank you, Jessalin!). Have to jog when I come back, I guess.

I lost 400 calories playing DDR today. *smile* Give me another month or so. I better be seeing results then. If only we had a treadmill at home, but there’s no space to put it. :(

Also, I found out I got an A in my Revolutionary China class for the study abroad program. Sweet. I miss Prof. Lu’s class. Well, maybe not the actual class, but the side trips and the people were awesome. None of the professors will correctly pronounce my full Chinese name now. T_T

So, there have been rumors spreading like wildfire about DBSK potentially breaking up. If they do, I wouldn’t be surprised. The same thing happened to H.O.T and I believe, Shinhwa, too, back then. SM keeping a huge portion of the profits for himself while his artists are starving (well, not exactly, but you get the point). Can you imagine how little Super Junior and Girls’ Generation must be making? All those years of training to have your hard-earned moolah swiped by a creepy ajussi. Be smart and go to college, kids. Or at least finish high school.

Been eating out a lot lately. New York City is food heaven, I tell you.

I am slowly coping with the fact that my study abroad trip is over. I have returned to work and am now a paid intern. Woot woot. My Internet Design class begins tomorrow and now my weeks are booked. Yesterday was Independence Day so I went to see the fireworks with David, but the friggin’ West Side Highway blocked our view!!! Argh~ And there were so many people who waited in the same area, too. Bah.

I finally watched Slumdog Millionaire recently and it is my new favorite movie. Love the soundtrack, the acting, the directing…everything.

Small update:

  • Scans – I added 9 scans of Deserts Xuan 张悬 from her album 城市 (A City). I highly recommend everyone to listen to her music, even if you do not understand Mandarin.

And now, picture spam from my study abroad trip (some of them were posted already and you can find more at my Facebook).

Back to America…unfortunately

I am still experiencing extreme China withdrawal symptoms. And I think all my friends are, too, as more pictures (some incriminating) from the trip are uploaded onto Facebook. Everywhere I go, I get reverse culture shock and compare America with China. Ah, fun times. We should have a reunion. Pronto.

But for now, I will entertain you all with a new song from 2NE1 called “I Don’t Care.” It has a nice summerish feel, and it’s really not a bad song. But it’s not exceptional either. Nonetheless, have a listen to it in 320 kbps. :)

Also, rest in peace, Michael Jackson. Truly one of the greatest.

Beloved Nanjing

So we’ll be leaving Nanjing in a few days and I just know I’m going to miss it like crazy. It’s almost as beloved to me as Guangzhou is. We had our share of lots of food (Korean BBQ, hot pot, Ajisen ramen, authentic Nanjing dishes as well as street food) and shopping (mostly at Walmart). Then of course there’s KTV at Milo with its beautiful stage and music videos. And drunk friends. And going out to different historical sites and getting totally lost. And finally…there’s clubbing at 1912. I think I am officially addicted to clubbing and giving guys my phone number. I’m terrible, I know.

After Nanjing we will go to Yellow Mountain, Hangzhou, then Shanghai. Gahh I’m going to miss China so effin’ much.
