Hooray for 3-Day Weekends!

Took my Macro midterm today. While I’m pretty sure I didn’t get anything less than a B+, I was really hoping for an A. I know I got at least 3 questions wrong out of 47 already. *sigh* That’s borderline A and A-. I really shouldn’t doubt my gut feelings and change my answers. And I’ve been following up on current events, too! Why must the questions be so number-specific? I know the overall trend of the economy. T_T

Anyway, no use moping over it now. Let’s look forward to a longish weekend! Plans include homework, studying, working on project, shopping, watching foreign films, and photographing. Awesome. It’s little things like this that make life worth living. And the project is actually quite fun since I’m a marketing enthusiast. =) While finance and accounting are important, I don’t think I can spend the rest of my adult years doing that.

After tutoring today (last class cancelled!), I’ll go to Chinatown and do my brother a favor by picking up his medical papers. I’ve been criticizing him a lot, and rightfully so, about how he spends too much money. Ever since he got his job, it’s nonstop shopping every week. Last week it was clothes and a watch. This week it’s a jacket and Jordans. And according to the question I got wrong on the test, the personal savings rate in the U.S. is now 4-7%. Pfft. Not for him. Nonetheless, I haven’t been a very good sister either. I have a responsibility to take care of my younger brother and “reform” his money-wasting ways. So for once I’ll help him out (since my mathematical abilities are reaching their limit and I can’t tutor him much anymore as he approaches Calculus).

This weekend I’ll be applying to an internship at Y&R. Ever since Juan Cano came back to Baruch to speak to us about the company, I’ve been really interested in working for an actual marketing agency. Not that I don’t like the company I currently work for. My co-workers and boss are all super nice and I do get to build up my portfolio designing stuff. Plus, I get to listen to new music all the time. But I can’t stay here forever. Gotta always expand and look for other opportunities. So hopefully next summer I’ll be able to intern at Y&R…if they accept my resumé and if I don’t flunk the interview. x_X Aja!

Curse Physics!

At SACC right now, student-less again. Just chilling out and looking through clothing web sites online. I need new sweaters. =( Why must all the ones I like be sold out or backordered? Bah. I think I deserve a shopping spree just for dealing with how boring and upsetting life has been these past two weeks. Time to splurge. Sort of.

Highlight of my week? Studying for Physics with Max, Ravendra, and later Jimmy. But apparently our studying wasn’t enough as today’s exam was extremely confuzzling. And it’s got animal cruelty in one of the questions. What followed was another equally frustrating lab. Again, we were the last ones to leave. And we still got bad data. Urgh… Someone please entertain me this weekend.

On the plus side, here’s an update (finally!):

  • Tutorials – added 1 tutorial on creating flyers.

Keep going

First of all, happy 16th birthday to my brother, who decided not to celebrate with his family. -_-

I’ve been pretty busy lately. Finally got an internship and it’s quite awesome. ^^ I get to listen to music all day long and what we do is sound marketing. Plus, my boss is totally nice and really, really caring as I found out today. And she likes Coldplay and Justin Timberlake, too. xD

School-wise, everything is fine so far except for Accounting. I wish my professor taught better. She kind of just glazes through everything and hopes we all get it within one lecture. Hence, I have to ask my fellow tutors at SACC for help. Thanks, all! I’d probably be happy to get an A- in this class. And I don’t know what’s going on in IDC.

Tomorrow is the first day of school, the beginning of my sophomore year in college. I still can’t believe how quickly time has passed. It feels like freshman year breezed by, and it was a wonderful year. I met a lot of nice people, I joined clubs and attended various school events, I got decent grades, I learned to be a bit more independent, I tried out new foods and I went on awesome school trips.

As for this summer, I got to hang out with a lot of friends, even though I wish I could’ve seen some of my other close friends such as Yue, Yuen, and Hamilton. It’s been a while. Plus, I was able to spend money on worthy things such as semi-pricey dinners and long shopping trips. But the best part is definitely working at CPC. I miss the kids so much as well as my wonderful co-workers. I really want to return next year, but I feel I’m obligated to get an internship, study abroad, or go to summer school. I’ll be 20 by then. It always feels like there’s so much to do and so little time during my undergraduate years. I have to budget it really carefully…
