I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season and spending it with their loved ones. Nevermind the presents! It’s the quality time with friends and family that matters, right? I had a nice Christmas Eve suddenly running into my friend Tianle who I haven’t seen in ages and having dinner and a nice, long chat with my good friend Yue while sipping hot chocolate. For Christmas I’ll be going to Yum Cha with my family and having friends over to exchange gifts. Yay

Quite exhausted today. Shouldn’t have Skype-d so late last night, but it was fun (and slightly awkward). Sometimes I think about the 20-something diaries I’ve written since the fifth grade up until now and realize that written records are still not as strong as the connections made with other people and the feelings evoked by memories of them. After all, a memory is more timeless when shared. And then I wonder, what if one day something happens to my diaries? Say, a flood or a fire destroys them? Is that it? Ten years of hard work gone down the drain? I’ve considered making them digital, but typing the words up strips away the truth behind one’s handwriting. Maybe when I have a lot of time one day, I’ll scan everything.

Why do we feel so compelled to preserve some evidence of our existence? The best proof is in everyone we ever come in close contact with, isn’t it? Perhaps it’s just my fixation on having something that belongs to me and is readily available whenever I feel like recollecting a thought or a particular incident. But something about having a physical copy, although space-consuming, is incomparable. Besides, screen radiation is worse for one’s eyes.

Many of my friends have given up writing in diaries and journals because they “don’t have the time.” I take that to mean their passion for writing is just not as strong or they prefer to live life rather than write about it, which is perfectly fine. Everyone has a different medium for self-expression. Besides, considering how lazy I am sometimes, I’m surprised I managed to persevere in this aspect. It might have something to do with my eagerness to finish a task in one sitting instead of putting it off for another day. Closure is so important. And so long as I am blessed with another day, my story has not ended yet and I will continue writing.

I received an email that I was not expecting and my bad mood from the past few days is suddenly gone. It feels like I have regained the strength to go on with life. Today I came across a very interesting quote, “Life is like riding a bicycle. In order to keep your balance, you must keep moving.” So true, so true. I really need to remind myself to remain optimistic.

Gotta go to sleep soon. Eek. >.< Still have to get lunch with Rachel and Jessalin tomorrow and then go watch The Proposal. Luckily, the AMC theatre is close to our college and we get discounted tickets (thank you, Jessalin!). Have to jog when I come back, I guess.

I lost 400 calories playing DDR today. *smile* Give me another month or so. I better be seeing results then. If only we had a treadmill at home, but there’s no space to put it. :(

Also, I found out I got an A in my Revolutionary China class for the study abroad program. Sweet. I miss Prof. Lu’s class. Well, maybe not the actual class, but the side trips and the people were awesome. None of the professors will correctly pronounce my full Chinese name now.

So, there have been rumors spreading like wildfire about DBSK potentially breaking up. If they do, I wouldn’t be surprised. The same thing happened to H.O.T and I believe, Shinhwa, too, back then. SM keeping a huge portion of the profits for himself while his artists are starving (well, not exactly, but you get the point). Can you imagine how little Super Junior and Girls’ Generation must be making? All those years of training to have your hard-earned moolah swiped by a creepy ajussi. Be smart and go to college, kids. Or at least finish high school.

Been eating out a lot lately. New York City is food heaven, I tell you.
