We have finally arrived at Nanjing, where we will be staying for the next two weeks or so. I thought Xi’an was great, but Nanjing totally dominates it. Or the street we live in, at least. There are so many malls, stores, and food places (plus bubble tea even though I personally am not a fan of it). We ate at a Ajisen Ramen place and it was pretty good, right next to an arcade. hehe I want to stay here for another month or so.
Not looking forward to classes. Just wanna party all day and night. But can’t have everything.
Yesterday I went to the big department store across from our Xi’an hotel with Jimmy and Susan. We snagged a couple of booklets with Song Hye Kyo’s face on them. LOL The stuff there are super expensive. I’d prefer street markets any day. Need to save money, which means doing our own laundry every day, too.
We also went to an art gallery where I got to practice my calligraphy. hehe Unfortunately, it has gotten worse since I stopped doing it years ago when Chinese school ended.
We went to the Muslim market, but everything there was like Canal Street junk. It seems a lot of the students on our trip are still not over their love for fast food. The McDonald’s here is better and slightly cheaper with non-flat burgers, but there’s so many other things to eat that it’d be a waste just going to have fast food. Breakfast at this hotel is quite awful, though.
Anyway, class starts at 5 today and we just finished orientation. I got a SIM card today but still haven’t been able to contact my parents yet.
Sam and I never go on Skype at the right time…bah. Well, now that I’ll be traveling around less often I guess we’ll be able to work something out. There is, however, a to-do list for Nanjing.
- cut hair
- shop like crazy
- studio pics…maybe?
- KTV babyyyy
- visit 新華書店 for CDs
- buy souvenirs
- eat lots of different food
I don’t know how the next few weeks are going to be like, but I need to stay healthy and have a blast. Hope everyone enjoys their summer!
