ANTM Cycle 11 Episode 9

The episode begins with Elina complaining too much and being way too touchy over her being European. Sheena’s right - it doesn’t matter where you come from as long as you can embrace both that and the culture you’re currently a part of. Later, the girls meet the Aswirl Twins to learn how to work with accessories. Their challenge of the day was to model James St. James’ clothing. The catch was, they’d be wearing green suits so the only thing that can be seen will be the clothes and whoever displays them the best will win a Christmas photoshoot with Seventeen. Elina complains again, this time about not being able to breathe in the green suit. Nonetheless, she does win the challenge because she had a nice sleeve to work with. Joslyn made it look like a strip show by taking the belt off, Marjorie’s dress actually fell, and Sheena twirled too much. Elina picks Annaleigh and Marjorie to go to the photoshoot with her (Annaleigh’s photo looks great). Later, Samantha and Sheena complain about how Elina is an athiest so she shouldn’t do the Christmas photoshoot. I thought Sheena was actually being very childish there, especially when she says it has turned into a good vs. evil battle.

The girls have to do a commercial for Cover Girl and Whitney shows up to “help.” I still think she’s way too fake, especially when she started advertising the products when first meeting the girls. x_X Samantha was pretty good - very friendly and not too fake. Elina sounds like she’s reading the script. McKey still kind of scares me (she friggin’ looks like the Joker) and stuttered throughout the commercial. Annaleigh’s commercial was definitely the best. She was very sweet and believable. Joslyn kept puking and seemed kind of dead in her commercial. Her voice was kind of annoying. Marjorie was slouching throughout and moving her head like a pigeon. She’s still too nervous and starting to bug me because she cries every time someone gives her a critique. Sheena did pretty well. =) Overall, this cycle seems to have done much better with commercials. Probably because they had the words in front of them…

At the judging panel, the girls have a walking test with clogs. Most of them have trouble with it, but at least it’s not as dangerous as super high heels. Sheena did very well, but Samantha fell at the end. x_X Tyra announces the girls will be going to Amsterdam like someone in soompi had mentioned. hehe Samantha was criticized for slurring the words, “lash blast lashes.” lol Miss J says Marjorie’s “head was uncontrollable.” xD Annaleigh was the only one who actually used the product and Tyra says it was the best Cover Girl commercial she has ever seen. =) Joslyn’s arms were everywhere and Elina kept looking down. I seriously think the judges are too easy on Elina, just telling her to let go. Just face it - her commercial was BLAND. Sheena was “snaking out” but her commercial had a good critique. =) McKey was just too awkward. It was rather arrogant for Tyra to say that only her and Paulina were good at both print and commercial advertising. -_- As the results were announced, I was shocked that Marjorie and McKey made it since they had crappy commercials. In the end, Joslyn was out. I was really hoping Elina would get eliminated because her attitude is pissing me off.

For the next episode, the girls will be in Amsterdam showcasing clothes in a store window. Interesting… So far, I want Annaleigh to win. Now that my favorite, Lauren Brie, is gone, I really hope Annaleigh gets the title. She’s not involved in the house drama as much and she seems to be improving with each episode.

Lauren Brie left!?!?! She was one of my favorites -___- I haven’t watched three weeks of ANTM, I’ll go watch it when I have the time D=
    Thanks for the recap!

As much as I sdon’t want to adopt a biased cynical view, ANTM really is all about ratings, glam and drama. If you look back at the other cycles, you’ll find mostly boring (but most of the time pretty) models eliminated. They’ll go for variety: whether it’s based on race, personality or looks to keep the viewers interested.

Guess why Elina’s still there. She creates compelling television these producers love.
