Love is my disease

Bought an iMac yesterday. It’s hot. Hooray for widescreen HD monitors! Of course, now there’s a ton of empty space on my desk (which was kinda small to begin with). Hopefully designing stuff would be a lot more efficient now. I still love my HP desktop, but every time I loaded Photoshop it would lag like crazy. My brother was complaining about always getting my second-hand computers. Kid, don’t be complaining. You have your own laptop and when you had your first second-hand computer, I was still traveling back and forth to the library at that age. Besides, you didn’t have to pay a cent. :p Anyway, there’s a lot of design work to do. Logotypes, fliers, pamphlets. Fun fun. Gotta abuse the font book later. Unfortunately, I forgot to save all my bookmarks from the other computer so…if you guys have any good design/inspirational sites to recommend, post the links below!

Here are some recent fliers I recently made:

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas because I know I sure did! :) Some friends came over and we had a ton of fun playing games, watching a movie, taking pictures, and chatting. Now that’s celebrating the true spirit of Christmas!

2009 Chuseok Festival Recap

[ music ] Abracadabra // Brown Eyed Girls

So today was the 2009 Chuseok Festival held at Citi Fields, New York City. Initially I was planning on sleeping it off because of the bad weather. But then I decided to go because I didn’t have anything better to do. Went with Tiffany, Sam, and Kelvin (Ting came later on). We walked around and my brother was terrified to ask one of the vendors how much their meat-on-a-stick costs. It was pretty yummy, but he probably jipped me $1 because I didn’t know Korean and his English was lacking. We also saw some young boys sumo wrestling. They got actual trophies and prizes. I think one of the boys got a huge flat screen TV. They just threw it on the poor kid. lol Then they made room for some b-boys. One of them was pretty nice at breakdancing. Cute Korean guys. haha

Later, we went towards the stage, which was super crowded again. Stood for hours waiting for the Brown Eyed Girls. In the meantime, we had to listen to other singers who appealed to the older audience. Some halmonis were dancing along to the music. haha Then we got to the more mainstream artists. The first two female artists I did not know. Then came Leessang, a rap duo, along with another woman. They were pretty good (although I still like Epik High more). Actually, they reminded me of M-Flo. haha Then they introduced the Brown Eyed Girls and everyone cheered like crazy. I wish they performed more than three songs. They sang “Abracadabra,” “You Raise Me Up” (wtf?), and another song I do not know the title of (might have been from a previous album). It was so quick and they barely interacted with the audience. What a bummer. They kinda just came and left. -_- And everyone sitting in the front decided to stand on their chairs. Not cool. Couldn’t recognize Narsha without her wig on. Ga-In was super hot; even my brother is in love with her. At the end, we saw Eugene Park, the autistic and talented violinist who had been abused by his manager. I feel so terrible for him, but he gave a great performance. Afterwards, we went to Korean BBQ in Flushing. Anyway, here are the pics. By the way, I was pretty far away from the stage and my zoom sucks. But the pics this year are clearly thanks to my D40. Mwahaha.

Internet is back again!

[ music ] Freezing // MoZella

Yup, you read correctly. After a week of having to use my laptop in my brother’s room and leech off my neighbor’s wifi, the cable guy came this morning and fixed the darn modem. *grin* Now I can design in peace. Speaking of, I still have to get back to two of our designers.

Hm, what have I been doing during these Internet-less days? Writing poetry, building a vocabulary bank, reading current events, and studying Chinese. And designing flyers and stickers. So I’ve come to one conclusion: the Internet makes me less productive. Of course, this was obvious even before this week, but it became even more apparent this time. I guess I’m back to wasting my time online. :p

Brown Eyed Girls

The Brown Eyed Girls are coming to the annual Chuseok Festival tomorrow. I really want to go again this year (went last time to see JYP, Wonder Girls, G-Soul, and Lim Jeong Hee), but there’s going to be heavy rain on Sunday. Argh! Last year I was burning under the sun (by myself – going to concerts solo is not fun). But I really want to see them perform Abracadabra!

Talked to Yue on the phone until 2AM last night. Haven’t had such a long phone conversation in a while (if you don’t count Skype – that was a three-hour long conversation). Learned a lot about believing in oneself and trusting the power and love of God. I also realized I pray super casually. haha And now I’m stuck with Dad’s cell phone because mine broke. Nokia has a better camera (at 3.2 megapixels, it’s the equivalent of the first point-and-shoot digi cam I bought haha), but Sony Ericsson is a lot more user-friendly and has Chinese! But I’m stuck with my current phone plan for another year and a half, meaning getting a new phone will cost me a fortune. *sigh*

Oh well, I’m off to check out treadmills and exercise bikes. Ciao!

Endurance!

Love this song, especially the lyrics. Reminds me of someone. hehehe *smacks self*

My portfolio is now up and running (except for the contact page)! Check it out. And for those wondering, I had to make the entire site for my class using only HTML and CSS (okay, I snuck in some Javascript).

Annnddd be sure to check out my hostee Angela’s awesome web site. ^^

So today I found out that Miyavi now has a baby daughter. What the fudge? When did he get married?? Yeah, apparently his wife is Melody, a Jpop singer who’s pretty, but I think her husband’s prettier. That must be one dazzling baby. Congrats to the happy couple. I used to be obsessed with this guy/girl! Of course, I don’t need to be anymore.
