Continuing with the wedding, we get some beautiful music and nice slowmo scenes with the petals. It really illustrates the girls’ pain well. Grandma goes to visit them and says she’s sorry for putting them through this. Pfft. Whatever. I say she’s still a selfish, power-hungry, self-righteous, greedy, thoughtless hag. And clearly she favors her grandson over both of them. This is basically sending the girls to their deaths. She’s probably worse than the king.

“Empress Chun Chu” Episode 4 Summary

Hwang Bo Soo thinks her grandma’s playing some sick joke on her and tells her never to do it again. Empress Shinjeong, realizing that she’s not going to convince her granddaughter after all, gives up.

Meanwhile, the emperor continues ignoring his kingly duties and instead plays with a bunch of court maids. He starts hallucinating again, but this time he sees Hwang Bo Soo in one of them and throws a fit.

“Empress Chun Chu” Episode 3 Summary

The king apparently has no conscience at all since he has no problem killing the women and children. What an arrogant bastardo. Hwang Bo Soo stands in front of the victims with her arms wide open to stop the emperor and he suddenly starts hallucinating, seeing his mother in Hwang Bo Soo, crying. Everyone’s confused by why he’s calling the girl “Mother” and he faints before her.

“Empress Chun Chu” Episode 2 Summary

The queen is able to dodge the arrow and strike the eye-patch guy. She immediately flees with Foreman Kim, but they wind up cornered by a cliff. Just as eye-patch guy is about to finish them off, a higher Khitan general comes to stop him, convinced that the queen is royalty, even though she denies it. He offers to spare the two of them a chance, but the queen would rather die than be captured as a victory prize. She jumps off the cliff into the ocean down below.

“Empress Chun Chu” Episode 1 Summary

The Khitan army has invaded Goryeo and outnumbered the army as we see in the beginning. The Khitans are even fighting with giant bears and the battle gets pretty grisly (pun intended), especially with the sounds of tearing flesh. Eesh. King Seongjeong of Goryeo (played by Kim Myung Soo) is conflicted about whether or not to give up the land to the north as his court officials argue over it (really annoying scene). Since the Khitan army is much larger, the majority supports giving up the northern territory of Goryeo to the enemy.
